Melvich Gaelic Choir (Còisir Ghàidhlig Mealabhaich) meet in Melvich Primary School on a Thursday night.
The Ladies choir meet at 7pm and the full choir meets at 8pm and finishing at 9:30pm.
Since its formation in1975 the choir has competed regularly at Local Provincial Mods and the Royal National Mod where, between the years 1979 and 1991 it distinguished itself by winning the Sheriff MacMaster Campbell Trophy for Rural Choirs on many occasions. In 1992 the Choir moved into the Senior Rural Choirs competition, the Lorne Shield.
Choir members come from across the North coast of Scotland from Thrumster in the East to Durness in the West. With native gaelic speakers from Lewis, Harris and Skye
The Choir has earned the reputation not only for good music but also for public spiritedness, friendliness and hospitality among both the local community and international circle of friends.
